Lauren Roberts Wins US Poker Open $10k Title for $218,400

A field of 91 had assembled for the third tournament in the high-stakes series, including 3-time winner Stephen Chidwick from England, as well as Phil Hellmuth, David Peters, Alex Foxen, Kristen Bicknell and a host of other big names.

Things were looking ominous for Roberts and her other rivals when Chidwick – newly-crowned all-time winningest English tournament player – entered the day two final table as the chip leader.

His hopes of a 4th victory, however, took a major blow when he ran into Koray Aldemir’s flopped set in a huge pot, by which time the German pro had disposed of several contenders.

Roberts later admitted "I was ready to just concede," when she found herself heads-up against Aldemir and at a big disadvantage, but when her foe bluff-shoved at the wrong moment, her victory was all but assured.

"I was up against the best players in the world," she told US Poker Open host Maria Ho after the title win, adding: "So, I'm amazed that it's actually happening. I love the game, I'm passionate about it…and I was fortunate today."
