Swedish Pros Dominate the partypoker Sunday Highstakes Grind

The big boys and girls at partypoker were out in force for the highstakes Sunday grind yesterday, with online legend Viktor Isildur1 Blom putting in an appearance – although it was another Swede who grabbed a win to add to an excellent start to 2019.

‘Haddoken’ took down the $100k GTD Sunday High Roller, 197 hopefuls ponying up the $530 buy-in to get the evening grind up and running, with partypoker’s own Patrick ‘plenopads’ Leonard once again running deep.

A $20k+ payout was waiting up top, and it was haddoken who prevailed, edging out LoSientoGrace for the win.

The $200k GTD Sunday High Roller Grind had actually started (and finished) an hour earlier, and this time it was a UK victory, with Ibrajitovic landing the winner’s cheque - $40,780 – ahead of the flagless rrinKs.

Yet another Swede, Algorhytm, added a 3rd spot to the 4th place finish behind haddoken above, the latter cashing once again as Sweden impressed throughout the day…

On to $200k High Roller, and 192 entries paying the $1050 buy-in meant a small overlay for the partypoker team, with three Swedes taking $4k of that apiece – led by Viktor ‘Isiludr1’ Blom, finishing 9th – a spot behind Ibrajitovic who was having a super Sunday.

The victory went to Beeeetelgeuse, scoring $44,260 after seeing off tough opposition enroute, the top 5 finishers all taking 5-figure paydays.

We’ll leave the biggest till last and first take a quick look at how the $215 buy-in crew fared, 487 players just about matching the $100k guarantee, and embarking on what would be a 9 hour plus grind to the eventual tournament win.

Greek grinder value33 certainly proved his name, scooping $18,850 after seeing off the challenge of UK duo Sw33ney and SupermanTY22.

The biggest buy-in of the day was the $3150 Super Sunday High Roller, with $200k guaranteed and just reaching that with its 67 entries.

Once again haddoken was in the mix, but along with LarsLuzak1 just missed out on the nine paid spots.

For a long time it looked like partypoker’s top Brazilian team pro Joao joaosimaobh Simao would take the win, but eventually he had to settle for 2nd spot and a sweet enough $41k payday, Russia’s aLiNeNok1617 just edging the victory heads-up to take Sunday’s biggest prize of $61,305.

We’ll be back again next Monday with the biggest and best of the online Sunday grind, so watch this space.
