Big Winners in Global Poker’s Fast and Furious Sunday Majors!

While US pokerroom Global Poker were celebrating the launch of their new sponsorship deal with Chip Ganassi Racing Partners, the players themselves were enjoying another Sunday grind – over 500 players battling it out for top honours in the Sunday Teaser and Sunday Scrimmage.

We’ll kick off as usual with the SC$25k GTD Sunday Teaser, play starting at about the same time as former NASCAR champion Kurt Busch was firing up the engines of his newly-branded No. 1 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1…

Not quite so fast, but certainly as furious, was the action in the Teaser, 259 entrants at SC$110 piece producing a prizepool of SC$25,900, with 45 players looking at a min. cash of SC$155.40 to get their Sunday started.

SC$1.30 shy of SC$5k waited up top for the winner and the final table was a representative sample of the player pool Global Poker has attracted over the past few years: from Florida to California, Texas to Illinois and all parts inbetween it seemed chasing the big money.

JabroniCrusher was seen running deep, and not for the first time, an eventual 4th spot and SC$2,136.75 to add to his bankroll, although it was fellow Texan Woody379 who would get to the heads-up duel.

He would have to settle for second place and SC$3,755.50, however, as Nevada’s BeKindRewind pulled out all the stops to take the title and the SC$4,998.70 bumper payday.

1 BeKindRewind SC$4,998.70
2 Woody379 SC$3,755.50
3 Td33dzul  SC$2,849.00
4 Jabroni Cusher SC$2,136.75
5 Datadude2015  SC$1,476.30
6 Dianne87@Sbcglobal.Com SC$1,139.60
7 TJonesPoker  SC$880.60
8 RedDragon765  SC$621.60
9 Donkosaurus  SC$466.20

On to the early evening session and the flagship Sunday Scrimmage, a SC$50k guaranteed tournament in which the 280 entries added another SC$6000 to the eventual prizefund.

Again there were 45 paid spots, each securing SC$366.00, but for the eventual victor there would be a massive SC$10,808.00 bankroll boost.

California was once again in the frame, with two players – Pfefferkopf (that’s Pepperhead according to my high school German lessons!) and BrokeMogul - looking to take the lion’s share of the cash.

There was one huge name standing in the way, however… PhilipIvey!

Not, one would imagine, the legendary man himself, but the name certainly brought this Arkansas grinder a chunk of luck yesterday, going on to defeat Illinois’ RobKraven to lift the Sunday Scrimmage title and almost SC$11,000!

As can be see below, each of the final table battlers lifted at least a four-figure payday, and they’ll surely all be back again next weekend to have another go at the biggest tournaments in town!

1 PhillipIvey  SC$10,808.00
2 RobKraven  SC$8,120.00
3 Theunknown  SC$6,160.00
4 BrokeMogul  SC$4,620.00
5 BeanzMcGriff  SC$3,192.00
6 Pfefferkopf  SC$2,464.00
7 LappyRage  SC$1,904.00
8 Stilly12  SC$1,344.00
9 BobbyGreens  SC$1,008.00

And how did Kurt get on with his beautiful Global Poker colours running in the Phoenix desert? Well, a ‘final table’ finish of his own isn’t such a bad way to kick off a new partnership!
