Brazil and the UK Battle It Out for Sunday Supremacy on partypoker!

partypokers big Sunday tournaments are, naturally, a multinational affair – but yesterday it seemed like the UK and Brazil had a personal battle going on to see who would dominate the standings… the UK edging the victories but the Brazilians popping up everywhere in the money!

We’ll start with a UK success – or perhaps a Welsh one to be more exact – with CardiffPhil taking down the $1050 Sunday High Roller Deepstack, which set the tone for the day with four Brits at the final table, including partypoker’s own Roberto ‘WelshWizard’ Romanello among them.

There was a strong Russian duo challenging for top honours, though, with aLiNeNoK1617 and justkot running very deep, although they would eventually have to settle for 3rd and 4th respectively – Romanello’s 5th spot just behind them good for more than $11,000.

The UK heads-up battle saw BigPescado69 lose out to CardiffPhil, a $30k payout more than compensation as the winner walked off with $41,391 plus change.

Moving down in stakes a bit, it was Brazil who managed a 1-2 in the $530 buy-in Sunday High Roller Bounty Hunter, the $275k guarantee just topped and slightly more than half of that paid out in rake-free bounties.

With the delightfully-named WASH_MY_WILLY from Mexico and Canada’s first lady Melania_Trump both scoring big paydays in 4th and 6th respectively, it was however left to BateBicoPLZ and Fabio_Freitas22 to fight for the title, the latter chopping almost half the regular prizemoney for 1st and 2nd in line with partypoker’s new and much-welcomed flattened structure.

The winner, BateBicoPLZ was the headhunter of the day though, his $27,500+ bounty payment five times more than the nearest rival and giving him an almost $50k total payday.

Macedonia – whose recent name change to North Macedonia was in the wider news last month - may not be the best-known poker hotspot in the world, but WhoDatt is trying to change that too!

Four Brits were again managing top 10 finishes in the $1050 version Sunday High Roller Bounty Hunter, Brazil’s lincownz squeezing into the final table gap in 4th spot, but it was Macedonia’s day as WhoDatt saw off the UK’s proudflop for the victory heads-up.

A bounty payment of $23k+ on top of his $18k+ regular prize meant a total of over $40k heading back to the eastern European republic.

The $250k GTD Sunday High Roller Gladiator saw 123 runners and another winner from a lesser-known online poker country, Romania.

Brazilian grinders were missing from the deep end of this one, but Scandianvia weren’t – Finland’s Juha JHelppi Helppi and Sweden’s online beast Niklas Drulitooo Astedt well in the money.

There was no stopping nipa3p3, however, the Romanian scooping one of the biggest Sunday paydays of all with a $38k bounty prize on top of his $23,157 regular prize – seeing off the UK’s chaAat for the win.

The final tournament of a packed Sunday majors was the $320 buy-in, $250k GTD Sunday Gladiator806 entries that required an almost 10-hour grind to separate.

It proved to be another UK victory, with R0meluLukaku finally showing the kind of form that launched him into last year’s top dozen online MTT winners.

This time it was an Argentinian, DameUnLimon who provided the sternest South American challenge, the second spot worth a total of over $22k – but R0meluLukaku brought it home for a payday of over $36,000 with a bounty of almost $19k making the biggest difference.

That’s it for another Sunday round-up from partypoker’s big tournaments, but we’ll be back again next Monday with the best of the results and action.
