Is Viktor Isildur1 Blom About to Team Up With partypoker?

Rumour, speculation, reading between the lines? All in a day’s work, with the latest gossip out of Rio being that Swedish poker legend Viktor Isildur1 Blom could be set to join the partypoker ranks!

The partypoker LIVE South America ‘carnival’ has been swinging through Rio for the past week, and ‘our man Blom’ has been popping up regularly on the radar – with partypoker chairman Mike Sexton even having to attack Isildur’s button – not for the faint-hearted!

Plenty of time, however, to have a nice chat or two about the possibility of Viktor joining the partypoker squad perhaps?

And what about partypoker’s Patrick Leonard? A ‘hero call’ more likely at this table than any other!

Away from the tables, the man known to millions as Isildur1 – his identity a secret for many years as he battled the nosebleed stakes online – has been relaxed and enjoying the sights of Rio, seen here with Phil Hellmuth and Warren Lush

Joining the partypoker/Isildur1 dots

The Poker Brat needs no introduction of course, but poker industry stalwart Lush has close ties to both partypoker and Kings Casino owner and high-stakes amateur Leon Tsoukernik –with partypoker once again bringing their MILLIONS Europe to the Czech poker-room in Rozvadov this August.

Blom, of course, won the partypoker MILLIONS Germany in that very casino just over a year ago – a $1million scoop that rivalled his biggest ever live win back in 2012.

A return this year – wearing the iconic partypoker diamond for example – would be the ultimate coup for the site who have been on a sponsorship binge in recent months.

Sponsorships galore

Their Team Online TwitchTV squad has been making headlines, a Thirst Lounge partnership with Bill Perkins preceding it, and last week’s No Limit Gaming esports announcement have already made 2019 the year of partypoker in terms of publicity. Add Blom to the mix and it would be a hugely serious challenge to nearest rivals PokerStars.

Blom’s boom to bust with PokerStars

Viktor Blom has previous in the sponsorship area of course, a short-lived deal with PokerStars announcing his anonymous Isildur1 moniker to the wider world back in 2011 at the PCA.

A year and a half later and they had parted ways – something obviously not quite clicking between the red spade site and the legendary player.

Blom’s future brand?

partypoker’s recent rise to top challenger for the online crown, however, would be a different story, perhaps the innovative and player-focused site a much better match for the idiosyncratic Swede?

My sources in Rio are remaining tight-lipped about what would be the industry news – and coup - of the year, but as the old saying goes…if the brand fits, wear it!
