Jungleman Dan Unhappy About Tom Dwan’s Bragging

It’s all fun and games until someone loses an eye – or in the case of Dan Cates, is owed more than $1million - JunglemanDan less than amused on hearing about Tom Dwans boasting of trickery during prop bets…

The history between the two goes back a long way, of course, and the infamous ‘Durrrr Challenge’ match left a bitter taste in Cates’ mouth – Dwan down a massive $1.2million when Black Friday hit in 2011.

As we reported late last year, Jungleman has been trying to either get the match finished, or receive compensation from Dwan ever since – some $700k or so paid by durrrr in penalties over 7 years.

All the more reason for Cates to feel more than a little pissed off at Dwan’s revelations, the latter holding court during a recent Triton Poker cash game with Paul Phua and others…

For those who don’t know what ‘playing props’ involves, here’s a tweet explaining a basic version…

…and how it works in practice from an old LA Times article about Barry Greenstein.

‘One of the main tenets of playing props is that you have to pay only if your opponent demands to be paid; that is, if a player is not paying attention, he can't win’.

So, although tricking opponents away from paying attention is perfectly normal, it seems that Dwan’s boasting is what has really got under Jungleman’s skin.
