Bryn Kenney Scoops Triton Poker 6-handed For $1.4million

The Triton Poker Super High Roller series saw a fierce battle in the HKD 500k ($64,000) event number two, with a self-styled ferocious Bryn Kenney outlasting a strong field to bag the HKD 11,230,000 (US$1.43million) top prize…

The Maestral Casino on the coast of Montenegro welcomed 79 entries (45 unique and 34 re-entries) to the 6-handed NLHE tournament, including Anatanas Tony G Guoga, Erik Seidel, Triton founder Richard Yong as well as his main ambassador Jason Koon.

Described as ‘ruthless when ahead and sneaky when chasing’ with ‘the mind-reading skills of a clairvoyant’, Kenney navigated the treacherous waters of the world’s best super high rollers with consummate skill.

“I made a lot of really good value bets, really good bluffs, played really ferocious, feel real strong,” he told reporters shortly after defeating Daniel Dvoress heads-up for the title.

“When you get in such a zone for a while, you can only really think about cards. I feel great, just because I only really care about how I play.”

Poker can be a brutal game, even when you have already amassed $34,909,833 as Erik Seidel has, his exit one of several painful bad beats to pepper the second, and final, day’s play – and eliciting the comment “Poker isn’t always fun”.

Richard Yong made it to the cash in his own tournament, Jason Koon managed a reasonably decent (by his standards) 5th place and Malaysian sensation Ivan Seng Yee Leow crossed the $7million career tournament earnings marker for his 3rd spot.

The heads-up between Kenney and his Canadian opponent Dvoress went back-and-forth for a bit, but when the American turned his 2:1 chip deficit around there would be only one winner – Dvoress having to settle for 2nd place and the biggest cash of his life.
