David Lambard Wins $207K and First WSOP Title in $3K NLHE Shootout

Another first time WSOP bracelet winner emerged in Event #36: $3,000 No Limit Holdem Shootout as David Lambard topped a 313-entry field to win $207,193.

To do so Lambard had to overcome a final table that included all-time money list leader Justin Bonomo ($44,766,113) and Andrew "LuckyChewy" Lichtenberger, who finished runner-up in the $50,000 High Roller just a couple weeks ago for $917,232. LuckyChewy finished 4th in the Shootout for $67,706, while Bonomo ($12,937) hit the rail in 10th place when his pocket nines fell to the big slick of the UK's Ben Farrell.

Lambard is mostly a cash game pro in the California card rooms, but grabs a seat in tournament action now and then. He came in 2nd place in a WSOP Circuit event in LA last December, connecting for a score of $107,640.

A prize pool of $845,100 was on the line in Event #36, the second Shootout of this year's WSOP. After Lichtenberger was eliminated in 4th, France's Johan Guilbert and Weiyi Zhang from China were left to battle against Lambard.

Zhang had less than four BBs when he shoved his remaining stack from the small blind with 10-5 offsuit. Lambard made the call with ace-rag and the board ran out with neither player pairing up, sending Zhang home with $92,625.

A see-saw heads-up match followed, with Guilbert electing to make his move with A-8o. Pocket 4s held up for Lambard and the 44-year-old took the WSOP bracelet.
