Seven players had returned to fight it out for gold from an initial field of 88 entries, with only one of them without a WSOP bracelet to their name.

Daniel Negreanu was searching for his 7th bracelet at his 40th WSOP final table, his popular daily vlog attracting plenty of attention as usual…

David ‘ODB’ Baker was the man making the early moves at the final table, disposing of Frank Kassela and Chris Tryba, with David Singer falling next, leading to some tough four-handed play.

Eventually a quick one-two KO left Negreanu and Hennigan to battle for top honours, and when it went the way of ‘Johnny World’ he had nothing but praise for his Canadian foe.

“He played so well, he really did not get what he deserved there,” said Hennigan, adding: “He made every right decision and it was just bad luck for him there at the end.”

Hennigan told WSOP reporters after his victory: “This is just a sentimental thing… I’m happier with this (stud bracelet) than I would be with any other, to be honest with you.”
