Faster Play, Triton Million and WSOP Scores Head partypoker Update

Keeping its customers apprised of all things partypoker is a huge strong point of the poker room as it continues its upward climb in terms of popularity among players of all poker skill levels.

A new partypoker newsletter dutifully landed in my in-box and the latest happenings are certainly worth sharing. Here they are:

Poker is a game of patience, but waiting for slowpoke players to act gets under the skin of the best of us at times. To that end, partypoker has shortened the clock at all cash game tables minus fastforward in an effort to keep the game at a brisk pace.

Players will now have 15 seconds to make decisions both pre-flop and post-flop, as the latter was previously set at 20 seconds. The aim is "a faster more exciting game," said partypoker partner Rob Yong.

While cash game play will be faster, it will also be more lucrative - for players who start new games. A new Table Starter Cashback promo awards double cashback points to opted in players who are among the first three at a table.

When a fourth player arrives, cashback reverts to 1x. Double points are in play at all stakes at 6-max and larger tables, excluding fastforward.

It's not only cash game action that's making headlines at partypoker as there's news to share on the tournament front too. MTT players are likely aware that partypoker supersizes one of its Power Series events every month without increasing the buy-in.

The Power Series Special Edition tournament for this month takes place at 19:00 GMT on July 21. The $55 buy-in remains the same, but the guarantee gets a boost to $150,000.

The latest post in the partypoker PRO blog comes from Padraig Parkinson as the Irishman has a thing or two to say about the poker room's decision to ban HUDs and implement other changes aimed at fairness and safety.

Team partypoker have been busy at the WSOP, cashing in 43 events for $434,664 as of this writing. Patrick Leonard and his $73,572 in scores lead the way. Leonard finished in the money seven times. Kristen Bicknell ($56,498) and Anatoly Filatov ($38,484) have six cashes each.

Sponsorship duties for the record-breaking £1,050,000 buy-in Triton Million will be handled by partypoker LIVE. The event takes place in London from August 1-3 under the billing of “Triton Million - A Helping Hand for Charity Event”.

Triton will donate each player's £50,000 registration fee to a number of charities in the UK and Asia, including REG and the Caring for Children Foundation. A bunch of high rollers and wealthy businessmen have confirmed their participation, including partypoker's own Sam Trickett and Jason Koon.

The debut of partypoker LIVE in the USA at the MILLIONS Vegas was a smashing success as 536 entrants bought in for $10K. The venue was the Aria Resort & Casino and the tournament ran from June 28 to July 2.

Topping the field for the $1 million first place prize was Tom Marchese. Landing runner-up for $650K was Jeremy Ausmus.
