HolySmokes Tastes Global Poker Sunday Scrimmage Success

While the Main Event finished its opening few days in Vegas, the online crowd descended upon Global Poker in great numbers to get their poker fix – with SC$75,000 easily met as 516 runners vied for the coveted Sunday Teaser and Sunday Scrimmage titles…

We’ll start with the flagship SC$50k GTD Sunday Scrimmage for a change, and a six-hour slugfest that saw three New Yorkers in the mix as the final table chased almost SC$10k up top.

They were the survivors of 258 starters in the SC$218 buy-in Sunday biggie, the top 45 hitting at least a min. cash worth SC$309.60, but 30 times that awaiting the winner.

It wouldn’t be Massachussetts grinder Yourw3lcom3 atop the podium, first to fall at the final table but a very useful bankroll-boost making it a great weekend…

Fans of the South Park cartoon series will love the 6th place finisher, ManBearPig86, the Floridean scooping SC$2270.40 for a fine run, but as always there can be only one Scrimmage champion each week.

That title-tussle came down to heads-up between NasaLies from Ohio and New York’s HolySmokes, and when the smoke had cleared it was the latter who could claim to be a Global Poker champion…

1 HolySmokes  SC$9,958.80
2 NasaLies  SC$7,482.00
3 Ward1102  SC$5,676.00
4 GTOH.. SC$4,257.00

7 PresidentReagan  SC$1,754.40
8 Willsalt12  SC$1,238.40

Earlier in the afternoon we watched on as the Sunday Teaser lived up to its name, yet again 258 runners vying for the huge cash payouts, with very nearly SC$5000 set aside for the victor.

If you don’t know what a swivelshinner is, well, neither do I and nor does google, but the Arizona player made the final table, turning a SC$110 buy-in into a sweet SC$600+ payday.

The top six would all claim four-figure cashes, the Californian duo of ShoeStoreClerk and Whalenutz gracing these pages previously and yesterday taking 5th and 4th respectively.

The Teaser title would come down to a heads-up battle between Maine’s Marshall61 and Illinois grinder Beatbookie – and as we all know, you can’t beat the book!

An excellent run for the Illinois player saw 2nd place and SC$3,741.00 while Beatbookie was celebrating an SC$4,979.40 Sunday Teaser scoop.

1 Beatbookie  SC$4,979.40
2 Marshall61  SC$3,741.00
