Brandon Adams in Pole Position as $50k Final Fifty Reaches Final Table

Brandon Adams will come back to the $50k Final Fifty tournament today with a massive chip lead, and his sights set on the $1.6million top prize that awaits the winner of the final table of seven…

Adams has quickly bounced back from recent legal troubles, scooping the $3,200 Online NLHE High Roller earlier this week for a $411,561 payday and his first bracelet.

The extra event on the schedule, as we reported yesterday, attracted poker’s biggest stars – Fedor Holz and Daniel Negreanu among the 44 day one survivors and joined by 15 more runners yesterday afternoon.

The bust-outs came thick and fast, Erik Seidel at the hands of Dan Smith, Ben Yu to Bryn Kenney and Vogelsang falling on Holz’s sword among the notables. One amusing headline (for UK players at least) on the live updates saw ‘Dai eliminated by Davies’, without a Welshman in sight!

Brian Rast’s tournament ended with a brutal river, his pocket nines hitting another on the flop against Danny Tang’s aces, but the final card sealing Rast’s fate with the ace of spades.

Chidwick, Nitsche and Holz’s departures brought about the money bubble, and Gary Friedlander was the unfortunate soul who missed out – his kings losing out to Mateos’ jacks and a min. cash of $75,483 for the remaining 19 players.

Australian Michael Addamo seemed to be involved in almost every hand, busting Dan Smith and Talal Shakerchi along the way, ending the day in 3rd spot, just behind Mateos, with Adams way ahead.

The players will return today to decide the destination of bracelet number 90 and the $1,608,406 first place payout.
