WPN Earns Guinness World Record for $5M Venom Payment in Crypto

The Winning Poker Network and its flagship poker site Americas Cardroom hold a new and distinguished Guinness World Record following a payout in cryptocurrency to Rafael TheBigKid Moraes, the winner of the $5 million GTD Venom.

Moraes topped 2,553 entrants in the $2,500 + $150 buy-in Venom, winning $1,050,559.50. Minutes after "TheBigKid" defeated runner-up "GinkgoBiloba" to claim the title, WPN sent him his winnings in Bitcoin - all at once.

As a result, the good folks at Guinness World Records have awarded WPN and ACR the new record for the largest cryptocurrency winning jackpot in an online poker tournament!

"We’re excited for 'TheBigKid' our $1,050,559.50 first place winner in our $5 Million Venom,” said WPN spokesperson Michael Harris. “Earning the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title means it wasn’t just an online poker tournament, it was history in the making.”

The official date and place of the record is July 24, 2019 in San Jose, Costa Rica.

The Guinness World Record comes on the heels of an online poker industry record for the $5 million GTD Venom - that being the biggest ever tournament prize pool by a US-facing network. The Venom tallied $6,382,500 in prize money after three Day 1s spread out over eight days that allowed unlimited re-entries and the Biggest Stack Option.

The Winning Poker Network and Americas Cardroom have been accepting Bitcoin since 2015. While the early days of Bitcoin deposits and withdrawals at WPN made up only 2% of its business, the network now accepts more than 60 cryptocurrencies that accounts for 60% of its business.

We at HighStakesDB heartily congratulate WPN for setting new records. Another record looks to be in the making with a $6 million GTD Venom coming soon!
