Tom Dwan Busts The Triton £1,000,000

Tom Dwan was among the first to bust out of the Triton Million Charity event today, the legendary durrrr seeing his £1,050,000 buy-in last less than an hour…and with it the chance of winning the £17million top prize…

By: Andrew Burnett

The biggest single buy-in tournament in the history of the game got underway at London’s Park Lane Hotel this afternoon with 56 players ponying up the massive £1million entry.

The unique combination of pros and amateurs each threw in an extra £50k juice for charity, raising $2.7million, but Dwan’s appearance was short-lived.

First he chucked 25% of his starting stack to Canada’s Tom Adams, and then he ran into Timofey Trueteller Kuznetsov, the Russian online beast 3-betting Dwan’s early raise.

A raising war ensued, Dwan eventually calling off the all-in and banking on his huge flush draw. The board, however, had other ideas…

…and Dwan was out.

As Dwan’s tweet suggests, he wasn’t quite the first to hit the rail, film producer and highstakes cash game guru Rick Salomon running his own nut flush draw into a flopped set. However, it was another case of spades only being good for digging £1million holes.

All the money went in, and Andrew Pantling sent Salomon packing from the tournament with a rivered full house.

The unique amateur and pro set-up, in which the pros could only be invited by a ‘recreational’ player, will see the two groups separated for the first six hours of day 1.

We’ll be bringing you all the best of the action as it unfolds.
