Igor Kurganov Bubbles The Triton Million Money

The Triton Million reached the money just before midnight in London last night, and it was Igor Kurganov who would miss out, the Russian bubbling the 11 paid spots at the hands of Vivek Rajkumar, after Bill Perkins had destroyed his stack…

The likeable pro was down but not disheartened as he failed to recoup any of his £1million entry fee to the biggest buy-in event in poker history, even rejecting Perkins’ charity freeroll offer as “too much”

The 36 players who started day two were quickly chopped down to just a couple of tables, the partypoker-associated trio of Rob Yong, Jason Koon and Timofey Trueteller Kuznetsov all falling, as we reported in yesterday’s early update.

With only 11 players set to make the money, and a massive £19million up top, the action was brutal – although there was plenty of time for fun and games on Twitter and the livestream, the game much easier to play when you can see the cards!

Tony G was not a happy man when he finally hit the rail, his pocket kings cracked by Bryn Kenney – and the Lithuanian was soon joined by Justin Bonomo who lost a race to Kurganov.

Once Igor had departed, the remaining 11 were guaranteed a return on their huge investment – Winfred Yu first to fall in the paid spots, a £1.1million cash also the result for Chin Wei Lim, who almost vomited at the following flop…

When Wai Leong Chan ran his raggedy ace into the less-raggedy one of Tim Adams, it was out in 9th spot for £1.2million for the second Malaysian to make the money.

The final eight will return later today (1pm BST Saturday) to decide the destination of the Helping Hand for Charity title – and with it that world record £19million first prize.

It promises to be a huge weekend of Triton Poker action, as the £50k buy-in 8-handed NLHE tournament kicks off late afternoon, while Sunday will see the opening vent, the £25k Turbo, brought to a conclusion.
