Michael Zhang Makes it partypoker MILLIONS Title Two with €25k SHR Victory

Michael Zhang added another partypoker MILLIONS Super High Roller title to his resume in Rozvadov last night, taking down the €25k SHR trophy to go along with his €50k SHR victory at last year’s MILLIONS Germany festival…

The young English pro was among 42 entries at Leon Tsoukernik’s Kings Casino, the ‘poker island’ playing host to partypoker’s MILLIONS Europe festival this week.

Nine players made it through day one to compete for the €997,500 prizefund, with six spots paid and partypoker’s own Kristen Bicknell among the contenders…

Along with Ole Schemion and Kahle Burns, Bicknell was one of the unfortunate trio who missed out on the money, despite this amazing hand going her way…

Paul Phua, one of the co-founders of Triton Poker who again displayed their Super High Roller wares at Kings this week, put in another excellent performance.

Runner-up last week in the Triton London Main Event, he added a 4th spot worth €112,500, the kudos of competing on level terms with the highstakes pros more important than the cash to the Malaysian billionaire.

Turkey’s Selahaddin Bedir had only ever cashed in Cyprus before yesterday according to the Hendon Mob, and his 3rd place finish in Rozvadov was a lifetime best score by far - €160,000 double his previous best.

That left Zhang to battle it out with Dutch pro Tom Vogelsang – the latter not to be confused with his namesake, German highroller Christoph.

For Tom it would be a lifetime best score as well, unable to take down Zhang but an impressive run and €230,000 payday as runner-up compensation.

For Zhang it was another title and €350,000 to go with it, the young pro’s live earnings closing in on his $3million+ online tournament record.

Final results

1 Michael Chi Zhang €350,000
2 Tom Vogelsang €230,000
3 Selahaddin Bedir €160,000
4 Paul Phua €112,500
5 Steffen Sontheimer €85,000
6 Choon Siow €60,000

All eyes today are on the second day one of the €10,300 Main Event, and we’ll be back with a round-up of the day’s baggers and bustouts as they chase the shiniest trophy in poker!
