Welsh Wizard Romanello In The Hunt For €1million partypoker MILLIONS Europe Title

A phenomenal day of action at partypoker’s MILLIONS Live Europe Main Event in Rozvadov saw eight players make it to the official final table – partypoker’s Welsh Wizard Roberto Romanello among them!

By: Andrew Burnett

With 72 players returning for day three of the €5million flagship Main Event, Welshman Romanello was one of the 15 who had made it through two days of online qualifying, joining up with 57 who had taken the live route at Kings Casino.
Everyone was in the money as play started, but there was the incentive of a €100k final table spot on the line, with a cool €1million for the ultimate winner.

The day started brightly for the man from Swansea…

…and he was in good company throughout the day, fellow Brits Charlie Carrel and Sam Grafton on fire as well – with Team partypoker colleague Dzmitry Urbanovich destined for a deep run as well.

To go all the way in a tournament like this requires luck to go with the skill, and for Netherlands pro AbdelHakim Zoufri there was only one out of those two going for him today.

Having already seen his kings cracked by Romain Lewis’ suited connectors, lightning basically struck twice to send the young pro from Rotterdam to the rail, though his €25k cash did take him through the $1million career tournament barrier…

Lewis: 8♥ 8♣
Abdelhakim: A♥ A♠
Board: 5♣ 6♣ 2♦ 5♠ 8♠

Kenny Hallaert wasn’t quite so fortunate facing the pocket rockets of Czech player Josef Snejberg, busting in 17th…

…and as the money started to rise significantly, partypoker’s Dzmitry Urbanovich saw a fine run come to an end in the following incredible cooler…

Urbanovich: K♥ 9♦
Paleta: 7♣ 7♥

Flop: 7♠ 9♥ 9♠

If the flop had both players interested, then the turn was destined to see all the chips go in…

Turn: 7♦
River: 5♦

… Urbanovich betting out and then calling Paleta’s shove only to see the Czech man table quads against his boat.

One more bustout, worth a €20,000 pay jump for those still in, would see the official final table set and it would be Hungarian Jozsef Liszkovics leaving with €80,000 – an excellent performance and his biggest career cash.

Charlie Carrel leads the final table chip counts, the players returning to blinds of 800,000-1,600,000 with a 1,600,000 ante.

Final table chip counts

1 Charlie Carrel 102,100,000
2 Romain Lewis 81,800,000
3 Lukas Zaskodny 71,200,000
4 Severin Schleser 69,500,000
5 Sam Grafton 62,400,000
6 Rastislav Paleta 42,000,000
7 Roberto Romanello 41,900,000
8 Josef Snejberg 32,900,000
