Global Pokers GOAT Championship series came to a thrilling conclusion yesterday, the SC$1million guaranteed festival crowning RawMeteor as the Main Event High champion…

The New Jersey player was one of 576 entrants to the SC$100k GTD, SC$218 buy-in tournament, an eventual prizepool of $115,200 as well as two Tournament of Champions spots on the line.

Nine players made the final table, from as far afield as California and Oregon to Pennsylvania and New Jersey across the country, all in the knowledge that the top three would be walking off with 5-figure paydays.

As it transpired, the eastern state players were the first to bow out, with special mention going to TickleMeTimbers, the Nevadan doubtless tickled pink by a SC$3,744.00 seventh place cash.

When they reached the final three, they were already guaranteed more than the usual Sunday Scrimmage winner, and when Ohio’s EightLarge fell in 3rd spot he had turned SC$218 into SC$11,520.00.

The heads-up duo of RawMeteor and NJF16 had booked Tournament of Champions spots – that series-finale taking place next Sunday August 25th, with a $5k live tournament package awaiting the winner.

Both players will have massive bankrolls by the time that comes round, though, Mississippi’s NJF16 losing out narrowly and having to settle for 2nd and SC$15,552.

The victor, RawMeteor from New Jersey, scooped $21,542.40 and the bragging rights as GOAT Main Event High champion.

The Medium buy-in version of the GOAT Main Event, the replacement of sorts for the Sunday Teaser, saw 525 runners paying a SC$110 buy-in – the prizepool a huge SC$52,500, way above the SC$40k guarantee.

Brian The Golden Blazer Frenzel was planning to continue his streaming marathon…

…but he didn’t make it to the final table, where almost SC$10k sat up top, and all but one looking at four-figure cashes.

ELONMUSK from New York can put a down payment on a new Tesla after finishing 5th for a SC$2,803.50 cash, while IEnjoytheMountains can do that more regularly with the SC$3,990.00 4th place prizemoney.

When Indiana’s Chancakes busted in 3rd for SC$5,302.50, it meant that AFA567 and Floridaworm had secured their Tournament of Champions tickets.

The heads-up battle went the Texan’s way - SC$9,843.75 to go with it – while New Yorker AFA’s runner-up finish was worth SC$7,192.50.

We’ll be back next week with the full story from Sunday’s Tournament of Champions event, but until then you can follow all the Global Poker happenings here.
