Juan Pardo Edges Out Barcelona Football Legend Gerard Piqué to Lift EPT High Roller Title

Juan Pardo won the first of PokerStars Single Day High Rollers, scooping €491,600, but he had to fend off a heads-up challenge from Barcelona football star Gerard Piqué to do so!

Poker-loving Piqué was one of 70 entries to the €25k buy-in event, with team-mate Arturo Vidal also making his presence felt, just as the pair had done on the football pitch a day earlier.

Swapping the green grass of the Nou Camp for the Casino Barcelona, the 5-2 scoreline of the previous day was a prophetic one – Chilean-born star Vidal taking 5th spot on the green felt to go with Piqué’s 2nd place finish.

For Juan Pardo it was a day to remember for all the right reasons, posing with his footballing heroes before busting both of them to take down the biggest score of his career…

Of yesterday’s win he said: "I am obviously really happy, everything went my way," explaining to reporters: "I was like a little kid with Piqué and Vidal at the tables!"

Pardo’s previous top cash came a year earlier in another €25k High Roller, finishing runner-up to Davidi Kitai during the partypoker MILLIONS Barcelona Grand Final, with a fifth place just a few days earlier, and then adding an EPT title in Monte Carlo just two weeks later.
