Jaime Staples Lands Biggest-Ever Score as partypoker KO Series Kicks Off

partypokers $30million guaranteed KO Series got off to a cracking start yesterday, Team Online pro Jaime Staples landing the biggest payday of his career and Jungleman Dan Cates bagging a runner-up finish…

We’ll start our Sunday round-up with Staples’ deep run, the popular Canadian streamer now based in Edinburgh and showing his skills in the $2100 8-max High Roller.

With a $750k guarantee, the 339 entries were looking at a nice overlay as the PKO format tournament headed into big money territory, Staples joined at the final two tables by legendary live and online crusher Dan Jungleman Cates.

Jungleman wouldn’t make it to the final table however, falling in 12th and adding $11,800 of bounties to his $5800 from the regular prizepool.

Staples, however, was still in there, battling for the title and somewhere in the region of a $100k+ top prize.

The young Alberta man couldn’t quite close it out, but his 5th place saw him lift more than $35k – including $13,945 in Bounty payments.

The victory eventually went to WorshipMe_7, a massive $69,154 in bounties to add to the $60k regular cash.

Jungleman Dan’s near-miss came in the $1050 buy-in Sunday High Roller Deepstack, 199 players looking at a top prize of almost $50k.

AndreyBolkonsky is an ever-present at the deep end of partypoker’s high-stakes MTT’s, this time a 10th place and $3560, but the big money – five-figure scores – were reserved for the top five.

JunglemanDan eased his way into the heads-up battle against tdlvechicknbn but had to give best, a runner-up finish worth $29,600 making it a decent Sunday outing for the star, the winner walking off with $40,780.

Back in the KO Series, we had a $5200 Super High Roller tournament on the menu, 154 entries adding $35k or so to the $750k guarantee.

The biggest names in the game were here, if many of them still anonymous following the summer name change, but of course partypoker pro Anatoly Filatov’s NL_Profit nickname is still instantly recognisable.

Filatov made it to the final table, adding $11,700 in bounties to his eventual sixth place cash of $19,556.

The highstakes duo of PayAndPlay and Greenstone25 had big scores in 3rd and 2nd respectively, but had to bow down to Jackychannnn this time, the winner somehow racking up $94,412 in bounties along the way, adding $67,972 from the regular prizepool.

Our final tournament from yesterday’s partypoker action is the $530 buy-in Sunday High Roller Grind, with 96 players and no PKO format this time.

Joao XjoaosimaoX Simao was the partypoker Team pro in the money this time, the Brazilian’s 10th place finish worth $1625.

WorshipMe_7 was again in the money, 7th and $2125, but the victory went to KevinM987, otherwise known as Kevin Martin, who this week announced his retirement from the poker streaming game and partypoker’s Team Online.

The heads-up deal with hotsince92 was an excellent farewell for the likeable Canadian, taking the win and $11,265.

partypoker’s KO Series runs until September 22nd, and you can join the fun by clicking here.
