Sam Soverel Strikes Again With Second BPO £25k Win

The Sam Soverel show continued at Londons Aspers Casino yesterday, the young American grabbing his second title and 5th cash of the British Poker Open series with a $227,500 win in the third and final £25k event.

Though only 13 players entered, meaning just two spots would be paid, the action was just as interesting as the previous events on the BPO schedule – not unexpected with the likes of Stephen Chidwick, Timothy Adams and Ali Imsirovic among the high-class runners.

Sam Greenwood, Soverel’s closest challenger in the overall leaderboard race, saw his challenge ended by Ben Tollerene – pocket kings cracked by two pair.

Next up on Tollerene’s hitlist was Stephen Chidwick…

Tollerene: K♠ Q♠
Chidwick: 2♦ 2♣
Board: 4♥ K♥ K♣ 4♦ 5♥

There would be no happy ending for Tollerene, however, the Washington pro known online as Ben86 and Bttech86 knocked out by Soverel, the KQ hand going against him this time, overcoming his pocket 8’s.

Heads-up saw Soverel against Steve O’Dwyer, the former’s chip lead eroded somewhat before both men pinned their hopes on king x hands.

Soverel: K♥ 2♠
O’Dwyer: K♦ 9♠

Flop: K♣ Q♦ 2♦
Turn: 7♣

All the chips went in, O’Dwyer receiving the bad news and hoping for a miracle river, but it didn’t appear…

River: 3♦

That gave O’Dwyer £100,000 for his runner-up run, Soverel scooping the £227,500 that went with his second title of the week.

Final results

1 Sam Soverel £227,500
2 Steve O’Dwyer £100,000
