The weekend action on Global Poker saw cash prizes and live tournament packages thrown around like confetti, with Iowa grinder RoIGuy the biggest winner as he final tabled both the Scrimmage and the Teaser and walked off with a trophy

We’ll kick off our Sunday roundup of the US-facing site’s biggest tournaments with the final salvo fired in the CPPT qualifiers – six players looking to grab exclusive $2200 packages to the CardPlayer Poker Tour’s opening stop in Los Angeles.

With 18 players already guaranteed a seat in the CPPT Main Event, along with a chunk of travel expense cash to get them there, the big question was who would join them to fly the Global Poker flag.

The answer was a cross-section of North American poker fanatics, as Californian duo Wooki_Mayne and UrNoJedi tied up two berths on the LA trip.

Ciggie King from British Columbia landed a big hit for the Canadian section of the GP poker community, with Massachusetts’ Joe_Rocka and Arizona’s Isabella21 joining the LA-bound team.

The final $2200 package went to a well-known name on the Global Poker tournament tables, Florida’s Gimmie-Yo-Cookies.

With that settled, it was time for the Sunday biggies, and we’ll take a look first at the big-money Scrimmage, offering a SC$10k+ top prize from a SC$50k guarantee.

That was enough to attract 237 runners and first port of call was the SC$375 min. cash – always a welcome sight on the tournament grind, with 36 players reaching the money.

Once the final table was reached, your writer’s favourite Global Poker player was in with a fighting chance, although Illinois’ OnionRingSasquatch eventually had to settle for 9th spot and SC$975.00 after a nasty ace hit the turn…

Maryland players Nuggietime and Quietkangaroo were well-rewarded for fine runs, SC$1,750.00 and SC$2250 respectively, but the real big money came down to a showdown between Minnesota’s Joseph73 and one of the site’s tournament beasts RoIGuy.

Looking for a gutshot to hit for the title, the board ran out with a brace of beautiful tens instead for RoIGuy and that was good enough for the win – SC$10,200 and the trophy on its way to Iowa.

Earlier in the afternoon we saw the Sunday Teaser, always one of Global Poker’s favourite events – the SC$25k guarantee drawing in 218 runners this week.

A familiar name turned up at the final table again, RoIGuy obviously in fine form and adding a sweet final table 9th spot and SC$487.50 to his bankroll.

Again we saw a pair of Maryland players running hot, Squid Poe and GrinderStax well in the money, the latter’s SC$2,125.00 just reward for some excellent play.

Heads-up proved to be an Indiana-Virginia clash, PKRPLR trying to fend off another Global Poker winning reg El_Fap0, but eventually succumbing and settling for a hefty SC$3,750.00, the victor taking SC$5100 and the trophy.
