partypoker to Bring Back Sunday $1,000,000 GTD After 13 Years

Rob Yong has tweeted that the partypoker is to trial a return of the $1 million guaranteed tournament on Sundays. The $215 buy-in freezeout event has not been seen on partypoker for over 13 years since the US market separated from the world playerpool.

Yong admits that this move may not be a success due to the increasing popularity of the progressive knockout format. Even so, the announcement was greeted with a lot of excitement and positivity.

This time around there will be a few tweeks to the scheduling. The intention was to have the event finished by 2am Monday morning UK time. For this to work that means a start of 3pm is required.

Obviously this will not work for everybody due to Sunday’s traditionally being a family day. To make it easier for everyone to take part, Day One’s will be run on Sunday 27th, Tuesday 29th, and Thursday 31st.

There will then be another Day One run from 3pm which runs straight into the Final Day starting at 7pm. This allows players the flexibility of playing a single tournament if they so wish.

Multiple Day Ones can be played by everyone, and for those who miss out on the Final Day two more smaller events will be starting at 7pm also. A $22 buy-in Mini $200k guaranteed, and a $2.20 Micro $20k guaranteed.
