Steve Wynn Facing Lifetime Ban from the US Gambling Industry

Iconic businessman Steve Wynn is facing the loss of his gaming license in Nevada. Last year Wynn stepped down from his position at the head of Wynn Resorts over a series of serious sexual allegations. Now though, it looks clear that the Nevada Gaming Control Board are of the opinion that this does not go far enough.

The NGCB have now filed a complaint with the Nevada Gaming Control Board which has the power to strip Wynn of his license to operate in the industry.

Wynn refused to appear in person at an investigatory hearing in September 2019 citing the excuse that it’s for his lawyers to deal with such complaints. The NGCB have stated that this strengthens their case that Wynn is not a fit and proper person to be involved in the gambling industry.

Wynn Resorts have already faced a record breaking fine of $20 million in Nevada for the way in which they handled the allegations against their former CEO. The Massachusetts Gaming Commission doubled down and hit them with a $35 million punishment knowing that they had to hang onto their license in the state following a multi-billion dollar investment at a new resort.

A Long Way from Finished

This story is a long way from finished. Earlier this month nine female employees filed a lawsuit claiming that Wynn Resorts “was not interested or serious about protecting its employees, and certainly not from Steve Wynn or his remaining allies in the executive ranks.” Wynn was also said to have made inappropriate jokes about sexual harassment at a staff birthday party.

This came only a week after a class action suit was filed alleging that the women who made the complaints against Steve Wynn are still facing a hostile work environment.
