Daniel Negreanu Celebrates WSOP Player of the Year Victory

It was a genuinely thrilled Daniel Negreanu who was celebrating today after lifting the WSOP Player of the Year title, after his nearest rival and old enemy Shaun Deeb came up short…

There had been much discussion this past week as to the worth of the title, which carried no money or trophy, but there was a real sweat on Twitter as the duo battled it out in Rozvadov.

It all came down to the final event of the WSOPE at Kings Casino, with Deeb needing a 5th spot or better to leapfrog KidPoker and Robert Campbell to snatch the title. That, however, didn’t happen…

The race had continued in the Czech Republic with Negreanu, Deeb and Robert Campbell leading the way after this summer’s Vegas extravaganza.

The ‘fire as many bullets as you can to grab points’ approach came under close scrutiny, DNegs himself coming up with several ideas to improve the PoY system.

For now, however, the former PokerStars ambassador will be chilling out back in Vegas and enjoying his latest success.
