Ryan Laplante Scores $186,000 With Poker Masters $10k PLO Win

Ryan Protential Laplante took down the $10k PLO Poker Masters title last night, seeing off Chance Kornuth heads-up to scoop the $186,000 first prize…

The original 62 entries had been whittled down to just six by the end of day one, Laplante coming into the final table as chip leader, with Kornuth looking to improve on his runner-up spot to Isaac Baron in the opening event of the series the previous day.

There was some serious opposition, with Ali Imsirovic among those still in the mix, but the young Bosnian eventually fell in 5th for a $49,000 cash.

Thai Ha, fresh off a $½million 2nd place at the WSOP Europe in Rozvadov last month, could only manage 3rd , though the $86,000 took him ever closer to the $2million career tournament earnings milestone.

That left Laplante and Kornuth to fight it out for the title, and Kornuth may have felt his luck was in when this flop appeared…

♦ ♣ ♥ ♠

Flop: 3♣ 10♣ 3♥

…but in reality it had sealed his fate as Laplante had hit even harder…

Kornuth: Q♥ Q♦ 6♣ 3♠
Laplante: 10♠ 10♥ 9♣ 8♠

That gave Laplante his first win of the year after several near-misses, the $186,000 a good start to the race for the Poker Masters Purple Jacket.

Final table results

1 Ryan Laplante $186,000
2 Chance Kornuth $124,000
3 Thai Ha $86,000
4 John Riordan $62,000
5 Ali Imsirovic $49,600
6 Tim McDermott $37,200
