@scott_seiver good strat and good luck!
@Spadda95 Tom is extremely naturally talented. From what I hear Ungar was incredible, but I never had the pleasure of meeting him.
@rpizzle7 what I call natural talent is mostly just high aptitude for specific things involved in poker: Logic/psychology/math/empathy/etc
@stass13 I never said it wasn't harder in the past! It was way, way harder!
@TuckonSports not sure what you mean if it's in reference to my tweet.
@fanexfox definitely. No doubt tools sped up our learning tremendously. I'm just saying that many could've learned the old fashioned way too
Forgot about this. Totally agree it would have been MUCH harder in terms of work put in back then. Not even close. https://t.co/JYo9pQoTfJ
@aletz99 I think probably would've been a teacher.
But of course, these are my guesses and are limited based on my experiences and perception and variance :)
All that said, Blom is def the most gifted young player. He and Doyle and Ivey are my all-time top 3 in terms of strictly natural ability.
@TexDolly I hope not! Otherwise I might get stuck playing limit with you and Ming ??
Good point. Online poker brought pros who would've been lawyers/engineers/physicists if online poker didn't exist. https://t.co/sJhZZI5LVy
I'd imagine @TexDolly DESTROYED almost all pros 40yrs ago, but the 15th best pro then vs. the 15th best today is a different story.
There are always special people who are outliers. I think @TexDolly is prob the best of all generations, but doesn't represent the average.
...took the top 100 today vs the top 100 from 30 yrs ago, I believe today's top 100 would be more naturally talented on average.
The fact that this is sped up by way more hands per hour/yr leads to natural selection that is very efficient. Diff skill sets but if you...
The fast that this is sped up by way more hands per hour means the natural selection process is more efficient.
The fact that poker is available to a MUCH larger player base means that rising to the very top (top # not % - like top 10) is harder.
... I use intuition to put people on ranges and I make reads based on guesses at the path of opponents' thought processes. Many do the same.
Some overestimate the amount of "solving" and math that many young players do. I almost never study. I'm bad at estimating equities...
IF forced to choose poker, I think many (not all) of the best have the natural abilities to get very good at it at any time (for that time).
Most of the younger generation wouldn't have been exposed to poker & many who did wouldn't be attracted to live like they were to online...
I think most of the disagreement on this topic comes from no clear set of assumptions & some from misunderstanding.. https://t.co/mPglpe7opX
@RealKidPoker yeah I didn't mean to imply u didn't realize. Gonna tweet a few responses to the topics you brought up but we mostly agree!
@RealKidPoker and sometimes an extra lack of respect comes from just being young. I think much of my generation (I'm 31!) understands now.
Agreed completely. Part of 'under-respect' is from difficulty understanding a different world (or not attempting to) https://t.co/WoRMCaKLPX
Right about these 2 obv, but they chose focus on live/mixed. 99% u haven't had a chance to evaluate in this light. https://t.co/pigwOKy0wa

We did it! One year of marriage, aka @Farah_Galfond putting up with me. #Proud to be Mr. Galfond. https://t.co/AKLFSe1kvV
@DanOBrienPoker @Farah_Galfond Vegas, baby!
RT @Farah_Galfond: @PhilGalfond you made it 363 days of marriage before your first butt kicking! Congrats. You get an alarm clock for you…
I feel like I've walked a mile in @TheRealAnsky's shoes.
Also, ty to @StephanieStern_ for rushing over as I slept through my match. Waking up to you yelling at me is an experience I won't forget.
I'd like to thank @Farah_Galfond for handling moving day on her own so I could play day 2 of the HU PLO SCOOP, which I failed miserably at.
RT @Farah_Galfond: Well guys I'm not home and I'm pretty sure Phil is sleeping through his alarm so GG :( https://t.co/meCGOUzQxK
@kittykuopoker @Farah_Galfond thank you. I am! I think.
@W1enerBlut @gpl @SanFranRush the PFR doesn't bet lotsa 2nd pair hands but they bet lotsa top pair, so 2nd card gives caller an advantage.
@qkrodriguez @gpl @SanFranRush ty man!
Hats off to @JasonMercier. Beat me good. I forgot how fun HUNL is! Looking forward to my next shot. @gpl @SanFranRush
@FabFath "you win two printhceness"
@GriffinBenger thank you!

@Samtrickett1 @nanonoko I drive a Prius :(
@kittykuopoker you're too hard on yourself. One or two small missteps early but you played the 3h and HU extremely well.
