Nikolaus "Niki" is an Austrian online poker pro who currently plays under the name “RealAndyBeal” at PokerStars. Before this, he grabbed the online poker world’s attention while playing under the Full Tilt Poker screen names “Niki Jedlicka” and, with devastating effect, as “KaiBuxxe.”
Jedlicka, one of many former "Magic the Gathering" players who transitioned to poker was one of the original online high stakes super-aggressive PLO players and went from zero to a millionaire and back again several times while still in his teens. Although his overall tracked results are now slightly in the negative, he was crushing hard prior to when our tracking began, and had plenty of success at the mid stakes and lower high stakes.
The world really took notice of "KaiBuxxe" back in the Summer of 2007 when he hit a $4.5m PLO heater playing the best in the world at the $200/$400 tables playing against the likes of Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies, Phil Ivey, Tom "durrrr" Dwan, and Brian "sbrugby" Townsend.
Jedlicka's rapid success caught the attention of Full Tilt management who signed him up after his Summer success, after which he played under his own name - only for Jedlicka to suffer the "curse of the Red pro", losing $1.5m by the end of the year. He continued to lose right up to Black Friday, by which time his account was over $4.4m in the red.
Despite the massive losses, Jedlikca has experienced some successes too. On July 23rd, 2009, he dominated the $200/$400 PLO action at Full Tilt Poker, and hauled in over $1 million in a single day. Just a couple of days later, he won a $563,000 hand while playing $300/$600 PLO against Patrik Antonius. Furthermore, Jedlicka did manage to win back around $500,000 when Full Tilt Poker opened up for business again in late 2012.
In recent years Jedlicka has concentrated on mixed-games and managed his first profitable year at the online high stakes tables since 2013 last year, winning $206,687.
Moving away from the cyber poker tables, Jedlicka has just under $900k in career live poker tournament winnings; this includes a seventh place finish in the 2007 EPT Barcelona ($211,480) and a 2nd place finish in the 2014 EPT Eureka €2,000 High Roller ($177,616).
And if anyone is concerned that Niki Jedlicka is running short on funds, a quote from a 2014 Pokerlistings interview should put your mind at rest. When asked about his future, Jedlicka replied, "It's too late for me to learn a proper job. At the moment I’m mostly travelling and taking care of my investments. Now and again I play a little poker."
And while "KaiBuxxe" is no more, his +$3.2m graph is still here for all to marvel at.
