While there have been other overnight high stakes celebrities who’ve ran good for a few days, none of them have experienced the rapid success that “XWINK” has. The anonymous 21-year-old from Canada managed to turn a $4,000 bankroll into $2 million in less than four days!
XWINK was first spotted by HighStakesDB at the beginning of this run after earning over $94k on March 2nd, 2011. And while this was certainly a nice day at the tables, it was nothing compared to the next 36 hours when he banked $1.2 million playing Rui Cao, David Benefield, and Andreas "skjervoy" Torbergsen in $300/$600 and $500/$1,000 PLO.
At his peak, XWINK managed to top out at $2 million on March 4th, 2011 before a rough session against Cole South, where he dropped over $500k in $300/$600 PLO. XWINK also had a bad run the following day after losing another $600k, thus leaving his total winnings during the streak at $846k. However, XWINK managed to come back strong the next couple of days to increase his winnings to $1.53 million.
Ever since the miraculous run in early March, speculation ran rampant around the high stakes online community about who XWINK was. After numerous forum posts about the subject, XWINK dropped some clues that he was also a user by the name of XBLINK at UB Poker. Posting on the 2+2 forums under the name “89blist,” he posted a short note that talked about both his winnings on Full Tilt Poker and at UB.
In 2009, XBLINK managed to turn a $20 deposit into over $800k in less than a month while playing $25/$50, $100/$200 and $200/$400 PLO. In the aftermath of both big runs, people have made accusations about how XWINK/XBLINK is a super user. However, none of these claims have of course ever been proven, and XWINK’s miraculous sessions stand pat.
