Viktor “Isildur1” Blom is a Swedish high stakes pro and by far the most popular online highstakes pro of all time.
Isildur1 first came to the publics attention in last 2009 when he appeared out of seemingly nowhere to crush the biggest games running at Full Tilt poker (ie. the biggest ever games the internet has ever seen). Within a couple of months he had won $5m, mainly from playing heads-up $500/$1000 NLHE against golden boy Tom "durrrr" Dwan. As has become an all too familiar pattern for Isildur1, however, his love of relentless high stakes action lead to him ultimately busting his roll after a particularly heavy $4.2m loss in one session of $500/$1000 PLO to Brian Hastings.
At this time there was only speculation as to Isildur1's identity, and it wasn't until he signed as a PokerStars Team Pro in December 2010 (and his subsequent unveiling at January 2011's PCA) that the poker world could confirm what many of them had suspected for some time, that Isildur1 was in fact 20 year old Swedish pro Viktor Blom.
Blom stayed at PokerStars for almost two years, in which time he lit up the tables with his huge seven-figure upswings and downswings (often in the space of a single day) and he expanded his range of games from just NLHE and PLO to incorporate many of the mixed games. As with PLO he learned the hard way, taking on the best players in the world at the highest stakes he could. As with PLO he initially lost heavily before vastly improving his game in a very short period of time.
Isildur1 left PokerStars in the Autumn of 2012 to join the newly re-opened Full Tilt as one of their three pros (the others being Gus Hansen and Tom "durrrr" Dwan. During his two years as a Full Tilt pro Isildur1 made some of the sickest runs (and downswings) in online poker history. He famously won $5m during the first two weeks of 2013, only to lose it all back again within a couple of months. Similarly he enjoyed a $3m upswing in April of that year, as well as another $5m run over the summer.
Since the demise of Full Tilt Isildur1 has been back at PokerStars and has actually done remarkably well and is currently (as of Feb 2018) up $3.7m at the site since the beginning of 2015.
Isildur1 is also no slouch at the tournament tables. In January 2012 Blom won his first major live tournament, the PCA Super High Roller event, during PokerStars' Spring Championship of Online Poker in May the same year, where he managed to win two events back-to-back. He has since gone on to win the SCOOP Main Event (2013) for over $1m and in 2017 he won his first WCOOP title in the $2,100 HORSE event after having finished runner-up in the same event the previous year.
