Andrew "good2cu" Robl was born in Okemos, MI. into a typical midwestern middle class family. After a wild ride in online poker which made him a millionaire by the age of 21, he now lives in Las Vegas with his partner Christal and their dog Astro and is predominantly a live high stakes cash game player.
As a teenager Robl enjoyed gaming of any sort, and like many other future phenoms, he particularly enjoyed playing computer strategy games (star craft, warcraft, halo). He first started playing poker in his junior year at high school with 10/.25c home games with his friends after class and after getting the poker bug he started to consume all the poker literature he could get his hands on and saw his game improve rapidly.
Robl soon started driving to the nearest casino regularly, using a fake ID (he was only 17 at the time) to sit in games, usually playing limit hold'em from $3/$6 up to $10/$20.
After finding a URL of an online poker website on the back of one of his poker books, and started to read the 2+2 forums, learning more every day and starting to converse and strategise with other internet hopefuls. Realising he was among a stronger set of players online he started building his roll at 50c/$1 limit games before switching to SNG's by the time he was 18.
By19 (his freshman year in college) Robl was regularly playing $215 - $530 buy-in games (the biggest available at the time), before eventually transferring to cash. Lucky enough to be friends with the likes of Tom Dwan and Phil Galfond he was able to glean sufficient information to be a big winner in the $25/$50 and $50/$100 NL games at the time (c.2006).
Around this time stories of Robl's wild behaviour, sexual exploits and carefree spending of huge wedges of cash became semi-legendary, and he is more or less the central figure in the book "Ship it holla ballas", which charts the degenerate lifestyles of Robl and several other well known now 30-something poker pros who I can only imagine probably cringe at being reminded of their quite often obnoxious behaviour!
Since Black Friday, Robl has spent very little of his poker time online and currently lives and "works" in Las Vegas, although for a while he lived in Macau where he reputed won millions in the super high stakes games.
Although he doesn't play too many live tourneys, Robl has still managed to rack up over $4.7m in cashes, including a $1,055,699 payday after winning the 2013 $100k Super High Roller at the 2013 Aussie Millions. Other big scores include $ 822,375 for finishing 2nd in 2012's WPT World Championship Super High Roller, and $ 549,003 for finishing runner up to Antonio Esfandiari in the 2010 $10k WPT Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic.
As of January 2017, Robl has decided to share some of his huge success with those in need and has pledged to donate up to $300,000 across the year, matching dollar-for-dollar any donations to his chosen charities up to $25k a month.
