Esfandiari Still Leads Doyle Brunson Five Diamond Classic into the Final Six

For the third straight day Antonio "The Magician" Esfandiari leads the way at the Doyle Brunson Five Diamond Poker Classis, and goes into todays televised final table of six as a convincing chip leader. A third straight final table in this event, the chip lead and a chance to take his second title here in three years are a pretty good birthday present for the man of the moment as he found himself with plenty to celebrate. No doubt he'll try to curb his partying for one more day however as he concentrates on taking down yet another major title this year to add to his 2012 WSOPE & WSOP bracelets (not to mention one of them coming with the not inconsiderable sum of $18 million as first prize).

Esfandiari Retains Chip Lead with 22 Left in the Doyle Brunson Five Diamond Classic

Over at the Bellagio one of 2012's biggest success stories Antonio Esfandiari seems intent on making himself yet another piece of poker history as he leads the field for a second successive day the the DBFDPC and is on the cusp of making his third straight final table in this prestigious tournament - and looking for his second win here in just three years. As we head into Day 5 Esfandiari sits on 1.597 million chips, a little over 300k ahead of fellow former WPT winner Shawn Buchanan.

The Cream Rises - Antonio Esfandiari Assumes Control of Doyle Brunson Five Diamond Classic - 60 Remain

What a year it's been so far for "The Magician" Antonio Esfandiari - not only did he win the biggest tournament the world has ever seen "All in for One Drop" for a staggering $18.3 million back at this years WSOP but he also won another bracelet just a couple of months ago at the WSOPE. Now he's back at one of his favourite haunting grounds, the DBFDC and ends day three as a big chip leader with 918k chips, almost 300k above his nearest rival, Freddy Deeb.

Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi Leads Day 2 of Doyle Brunson Five Diamond Classic

With Day 2 of the "DBFDC" in the books the day ended with current (and two time) WSOP $50k Players Championship Winner Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi as chip leader, holding on to 272.6k chips. Mizrachi is enjoying a stellar year with 4 WSOP final tables (including the $1.4m first prize in the $50k) as well as a third place in WPT World Champs this May for $424k. With the big turnout at this event this year the winner can look forward to a seven figure paycheck - this would be a fine way for Mizrachi to cap an excellent 2012.

Doyle Brunson Five Diamond Classic Gets Underway With A Strong Turnout

After a few disappointing turnouts in WPT events this year, one of the highlights of the WPT calendar has already achieved 374 buy ins, almost on a par with last years impressive 413 - and with the registration period lasting up until the end of Level 8 (the first day finished on Level 5) then there is every chance that figure may even be surpassed.
